I began making ceramics as a natural extension of bringing haiku into everyday experience with objects that are in use.
The Poet Bowls have been a great addition to the body of work in haiku. A natural outgrowth of the desire to include haiku as part of the daily experience of living, acknowledging all instances as rarified and celebrated rather than as singular, precious moments worthy of record.
The open forms of bowls, plates and platters lend themselves to the expansive, nested circles of haiku imagery. A rustic patina speaks to a life lived hands-on, engaged with all the hours.
Some of the forms are created in sets.
