I had said a prayer about the poems once, asking that the work be healing to all who hear them. Two years later, during a rare Vermont hurricane, the poetry that I had cultivated in silence became music, as if it had fallen from the sky complete.
I had always kept music for myself. It was my retreat and haven from my working life. While in Tennessee I was implored by a lifelong musician and kindred spirit to perform as a way to share my gifts with others. As I did so, I found myself playing festivals, onstage or backstage with my heroes of acoustic music, anywhere from a paddle boat on the Tennessee River to live television interviews.
What was revealed to me was that music has always been healing to me, and a private conversation. I had began playing in trance while in Austin, with no outlet to share in that with others. Today some of my dearest friends are Sound Healers; I have come to recognize that it is through music that I transform experience and enter into healing.
The haiku project is an outgrowth of my personal quest for wholeness;
May this work be healing to all who hear it.
